• 2 100 Wishes Granted
  • Season of Wishes

The holiday season is a time to celebrate with family, friends and loved ones, but it’s also a time for giving with a generous heart.

For Make-A-Wish®, the holidays represent a crucial period, where individuals, corporations and foundations get into the spirit of giving and support our magical wish-granting mission. There are many different ways you can support our wish-granting efforts at this time of year. In 2018, we have many returning initiatives!

Festival of Trees:  In partnership with The Ocean 98.5 radio on Vancouver Island, Make-A-Wish is pleased to have a decorated tree in the 27th annual Festival of Trees at the Bay centre in downtown Victoria. The event is a fundraiser for BC Children's Hospital, where atendees can vote for their favourite tree (ours, of course! Text TREE007 to 45678), and in doing so, make a donation to BC Children's Hospital. On average, 22 kids from Vancouver Island are treated at BC Children’s Hospital every day – that is almost one every hour, and our wish kids are among them! The display is on now, through Jan. 7th, 2019.

Fill the Cupboard Campaign: Will you be an unsung hero to children waiting for wishes? Organize a toy drive in your office to help fill our cupboards with new toys that we give to kids waiting for their wish to come true to keep the anticipation of their wish going. We are especially in need of gifts for teenagers. Ideas: gift cards for iTunes, restaurants, small games, puzzles, etc. In 2018 we've built several specific lists on Amazon.ca to help you with specific ideas! Click here to see the list! Call our office 8am-4pm for details: 604.688.7944

Holiday Cards: We have Hallmark Holiday cards available for custom card orders. Orders that include corporate logos and customized messaging are due by December 3rd and take 2-3 weeks to process (minimum order required). For more information, visit makeawish.ca/cards

Make-A-Wish with Fairmont Vancouver Airport:  This December, the Fairmont Vancouver Airport is bringing back the Make-A-Wish tree of Hope in the hotel's lobby. Anyone is invited to buy a ribbon to be hung on the tree, by donation. All proceeds raised go to Make-A-Wish Foundation BC & Yukon. The hotel will be offering up a few other fundraising goodies, including tea with Santa on December 15th!  Proceeds from your ticket going to benefit Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon. Van Dusen Festival of Lights: Join us at our Candle Grotto during the annual holiday tradition, the Festival Of Lights at VanDusen Botanical Gardens, from December 1st, 2018 to January 6th, 2019. Stop by the Make-A-Wish Candle grotto to light a candle, or visit our volunteers at our Glowstar table and purchase a Glowstar by $5 donation (Glowstar sales Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights only).  Be sure to check out the Discovery Room in the Visitor Centre to see the display put on by the garden, which will incorporate details of our history at the Festival Of Lights.  Celebrate the best of the season, nightly from 4:30 – 9:00 p.m.. Advance ticket purchase strongly recommended.

Gingerbread Lane at Hyatt Regency Vancouver: It’s the sweet smell of the holidays in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Vancouver (655 Burrard Street)! Stop by, check out the incredible gingerbread creations, be inspired by Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon wish stories, and make a donation. Runs from Nov. 30 - Dec. 29.
