• 2 295 Wishes Granted

VANCOUVER, B.C. | August XX, 2020 — For the sixth year in a row, Make-A-Wish® BC & Yukon is proud to partner with the Hublot Diamond Rally and Ferrari Maserati of Vancouver,  as the Sea-to-Sky Highway supercar rally helps raise funds for a very deserving  child.

“The Hublot Diamond Rally as an event won’t have quite the same format this year with various social distancing measures in place and we’ve had to cancel our annual cocktail party at Ferrari Maserati,” explains Ross Hetherington, Regional Vice President, Make-A-Wish® BC & Yukon. “But the spirit of the rally remains the same: presenting charities with this unique opportunity to raise critical funds. We’re very grateful to be taking part for another year, to ensure that a child battling a critical illness will see their wish come true as a result.”

In the five previous years that Make-A-Wish® has teamed up with Ferrari Maserati and the Hublot Diamond Rally, supporters have raised over $236,000 for B.C. and Yukon children diagnosed with a critical illness. The event brings together supercars and drivers who raise funds for charity. Some of the wishes this incredible event and our drivers have granted in the past include Joey’s wish to visit the Ferrari factory in Italy, Nick’s wish to travel to Fiji with his five brothers, Andrew’s wish of travelling to the Ferrari Museum in Italy, and Connor’s wish to have a family trip to Walt Disney World. Through the 2019 event, Brandon’s wish to visit Dubai and Jacob’s wish to go on a European river cruise came true thanks to funds raised at the Hublot Diamond Rally and Ferrari Maserati cocktail party.

Eleven-year-old Daniel, who lives with a congenital heart defect, can appreciate the excitement and adrenaline that the Hublot Diamond Rally provides. Daniel’s wish is to visit Southern California when it is safe to do so, to take in the theme parks, and feel the thrill of all the rides. When it comes to having something like this wish to look forward to, Daniel is one very deserving kid. Born prematurely and diagnosed at three-days-old with a congenital heart defect, Daniel has required three open-heart surgeries. If not for the surgeries, Daniel’s heart would wear out.

As Daniel needed many procedures in his early years, he and his family spent long days in hospital and in countless medical appointments. His parents needed to balance being with him and their other four children.  Daniel’s wish will represent an amazing opportunity for the whole family to come together to bond away from doctors’ offices and medical appointments.

The 2020 Hublot Diamond Rally is set to take place on Saturday, September 5, 2020. We are grateful for our group of Hublot Diamond Rally drivers on “Team Wish” who have made a generous donation towards Daniel’s wish this year: R.G. Heimbecker Foundation, Ron Roddick, Bashir Hirjee, and Adam Hill/LGM Financial Services (car donated by Mark Edmonds & McLaren Vancouver).

Watch for our drivers on Rally day, as they cruise the Sea-to-Sky highway with Make-A-Wish logos affixed to their luxury and supercars!

You can help fuel Daniel’s wish as part of the Hublot Diamond Rally.

Make-A-Wish® creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. We are on a quest to bring every eligible child's wish to life, because a wish is an integral part of a child's treatment journey. Research shows children who have wishes granted can build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight a critical illness. Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Make-A-Wish is the world’s leading children’s wish-granting organization, serving children in every community in Canada, and in more than 50 countries worldwide.

On October 1, 2019, Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada and Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Canada joined forces, with the goal of granting the wish of every eligible child across the country. United as Make-A-Wish Canada, our mission is to provide children with life-threatening illnesses the opportunity to realize their most heartfelt wish, giving them the strength to endure their treatments and build resilience.

Together, generous donors, supporters, staff and volunteers across the country help grant more than four wishes per day, on average. Since 1983, Make-A-Wish Canada has granted over 34,000 wishes across the country, over 1,600 last year alone. For more information about Make-A-Wish Canada, visit makeawish.ca.
