Ugly Sweater Dash pledge information page

Here's a handy guide on collecting pledges as part of the upcoming Ugly Sweater Dash on December 2nd!

To keep your spot on Santa’s nice list we encourage you to spread holiday cheer,
and ask for pledges from those far and near!

How do I get started?

Download and print our handy dandy pledge form here, or click the image below!

Take it to work/school/hockey practice/church group/etc. and ask those near and far to pledge to support you on your 5km journey in support of Make-A-Wish.

The ask: For every 1km I run in my ugly sweater, will you pledge me a minimum $5? (total $25)
Join me or pledge me: Will you join me on December 2nd at the Ugly Sweater Dash in support of Make-A-Wish? If not, will you consider pledging $___ instead?
Holiday Gift: Instead of receiving your generous holiday gift this year, would you consider a pledge for my 5km Ugly Sweater Dash?

Every little bit helps! Donations $20 or more are eligible for tax receipts (be sure to include the donor’s full name and mailing address, e-mail address too if possible so we can save on postage!).

What’s in it for me?

We’re glad you asked! For every $25 you raise in pledges, your name will be entered in a draw to win one of the following prizes:

  • $250 Fairmont Hotel Gift Card
  • $200 gift card for The Keg Restaurant
  • $200 gift card for Cactus Club Cafe Restaurant
  • $100 Canadian Tire Gift Card

And, for every $100 in pledges you receive, we'll give you a shiny new Klean Kanteen Make-A-Wish stainless steel water bottle*! (*while supplies last)

How can people donate?

Using the pledge form you can collect cash/cheque/credit card donations.  Be sure to bring the form and all donations with you on the day of the Dash! You can also drop off your donations to our office in advance of the dash.  Your donors are welcome to give us a call and make a credit card donation as well (604.688.7944).  Cheques can be made payable to: Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon.

Is there a fundraising minimum?

To be entered into the prize draw you need to fundraise a minimum of $25.  But why stop there – if you fundraise $100 you not only are eligible for 4 entries into the prize draw, you will receive a Make-A-Wish Klean Kanteen stainless steel water bottle*! (*while supplies last)

Where do the funds go?

Great question! At Make-A-Wish we are proud to say that $0.82 per $1.00 donated goes directly to wish granting activities.  We granted over 120 wishes in BC & Yukon in 2016 thanks to donors and supporters like you! We are on schedule to grant 150 wishes this year.  To learn about some awesome wish kids we’ve been able to grant wishes for- click here!

What exactly does Make-A-Wish do?

At Make-A-Wish we grant wishes for children age 3-17 living with a critical illness.  It is our mission to grant a wish to every eligible child in BC & Yukon.  With no government funding, we rely completely on individual and corporate donors to help us grant wishes.  Wishes are as unique as the child themselves. However, we can generally slot the wishes into 5 categories: I wish to have…a bedroom makeover, I wish to go…to Hawaii, I wish to be…a veterinarian, I wish to meet…the cast of Supergirl, I wish to give…a Whitecaps experience to my soccer team.
