Make-A-Wish® Canada is delighted to announce that its national signature fundraising event, Make-A-Wish® Rope for Hope, generated more than $1 million this year. Since the event’s launch in 2012, a total of $7.7 million has been raised to help create life-changing wishes for children living with critical illnesses.
562 participants, consisting of individuals and teams, each raised a minimum of $1,500 for Make-A-Wish® in 2019; and from May through September, they received a unique opportunity to rappel from a building rooftop in 12 major cities across the country.
On behalf of the children and families we serve, Make-A-Wish would like to acknowledge and thank the top Rope for Hope fundraisers in 2019:
Joe Hittel from Red Deer, is the top individual fundraiser in Canada, raising an astounding $32,799.59 for wish children in northern Alberta.
The Toronto Climbers, a team of 14, rallied together to raise an extraordinary $50,617.05 to help transform the lives of wish children living in Toronto and central Ontario.
National Contest Winner
Congratulations to wish parent, Albert Marshall, who raised more than $3,000 for Make-A-Wish® Atlantic Provinces and rappelled in Halifax. Albert and a guest will enjoy a sunny vacation in Costa Rica, courtesy of WestJet and Monograms.
A special thank you goes out to this year’s national partners and supporters for their heartfelt generosity: WestJet Cares for Kids, Sony Canada Charitable Foundation, Captivate, Pita Pit Canada, Globus family of brands (Monograms); and local supporters.
