  • Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon lacing up with Now That’s Ugly Society For annual Port Moody running event

PORT MOODY—November 2017. In December last year, you may remember seeing a few hundred people in ugly sweaters and holiday costumes, running around Port Moody’s Rocky Point Park. That was thanks to the Now That’s Ugly Society, hosting their annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Dash. It’s happening again on December 2nd, and this year, it’s in support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of BC and the Yukon.

“This event has huge appeal to people in the Lower Mainland and the Fraser Valley,” said Jordan Birch, who co-founded the Now That’s Ugly Society 16 years ago, and has been running events full of sweatery fun ever since. “These are healthy communities full of people who like to have a bit of fun. It’s the perfect event for any age, and the whip cream on the hot chocolate is that the event supports an amazing charity.”

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of BC and the Yukon is excited to be benefiting from the Ugly Sweater Dash for the first time.

“We loved the idea from the get-go,” explained Ross Hetherington, CEO, Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon. “Our mission is to grant wishes to every eligible child living with a critical illness—to bring happiness into those lives.  The Ugly Christmas Sweater dash is a family-friendly event with goodies for everyone, and is visually fun to be a part of and to watch. In short, it spreads joy. And that’s what we aim to do every day.”

The sweater dash is a community event featuring an untimed 5km Run, holiday music, and free family entertainment. Join the fun at Rocky Point Park in Port Moody on December 2nd. Check in is at 10:00 am, with the run starting at 11:00 am.
