World Wish Day ®celebrates the day, 33 years ago, that Chris Greicius received his wish to be a police officer for the day, inspiring the creation of Make-A-wish® and the organization’s global wish-granting movement.
Growing up, we all had wishes…..to be a superhero, to go to an exotic destination, to meet a favourite celebrity or to have a puppy. For children with life-threatening medical conditions – these wishes mean so much more.
Since Chris’ wish in 1980, more than 310,000 children around the world have had their one-true-wish granted by Make-A-Wish. Since 1983, Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon has granted over 1,600 wishes for children with a life-threatening medical condition. Each wish carries a child and their family from a place of uncertainty to a place of Hope, Strength and Joy.
Our goal is to refocus attention on the positive by providing a unique, once-in-a-lifetime wish experience that a family might not otherwise have.
Celebrate this global day of wish- granting with us for children around the world with life-threatening medical conditions. #SHAREYOURWISH
