When 9 year old Skyler’s little brother ‘Kesler’ was born, Skyler had no idea that one day he would meet his idol Ryan Kesler, who his little brother was named after.
Skyler has lived with a serious heart condition and since birth has always wanted to meet Ryan and the Canucks; with the hope of having them play against his hockey team the South Island Ravens in Victoria. On Saturday, Skyler’s wish to meet #17 came true when the Canucks hosted the Calgary Flames.
One of the funniest moments of the night says Vanessa, Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon Volunteer was when Skyler asked ‘Kes’ a few questions: “What was your hardest game ever? Do you always wear your hair like that? And what are your hobbies outside of hockey?.”
While posing with his team signed jersey Skyler exclaimed “I’m famous” and by the looks of it – little brother Kesler is already pretty famous too!
It ‘s hard to pick just one highlight from the night – watching the game from a private suite, a visit from FIN, learning how jerseys are crested, meeting Ryan, sharing goalie tips (Skyler – a budding goalie himself) with Lou & Schneider, meeting the rest of the Canucks team post game ….or celebrating the game win!
Thank you to Fairmont Pacifc Rim for outstanding accommodations and the full red carpet treatment including a ride via BMW to and from Rogers Arena.
Extra special thank you to Kids Up Front and TD Canada Trust for donating the suite along with the Vancouver Canucks and Slo-Pitch for Kids for making Skyler’s wish come true.
